Weekly PTI Stamp Set Challenge

I know, it was just a few posts ago that I said I was going to move on to obsessing over the Friendship Jar set and all of the fillers. BUT, we have 3 stamp sets to choose from in this challenge and this is the only one I have--so here is another balloon card.

I decided to stay with a Halloween color scheme and I think it turned out pretty good. I have had lots of comments about the masking. I simply cut a set of balloons out from a post it note with the balloon die. I then line up only one side at a time since the die is actually larger than the image. It works mighty slick like! For those of you who are here for Up,Up and Away inspiration check out the labels section on the side of my blog and look for "balloons". Click on it and you will be able to see all of my balloon card posts at once.
Supplies:
Stamps: PTI Up,Up and Away
Ink: Lavender Sachet, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive, Snow White and CLose to Cocoa

A Few New Things For Me

Hehe...More Ballooons and they are in primary colors wooohooo.Primary colors are not my typical choice of colors. Until recently, I never used red. Now, I cant seem to get enough of it, heck even the shirt I have on right now is red.
Another new thing in this card for me is the little paper ribbon banner thing. This one turned out great (beginners luck). You simple attach one side, add a glue dot to the other side, push the cardstock back toward the attached side (Leaving a gap, makes it look wavy) then push down the glue dot.
And buttons, normally they look odd when I put them on things but this one really just adds a little zing. Love'n It!

Supplies Used:
Stamps:Papertrey Ink
Paper: Poppy red and tempting turquoise
Ink: L'Amore, Summer Sunrise and Reflection Blue
Misc: Button, Scrapper's Floss, Lg Scallop Border

It's Not That Bad!

So turning 40 is it really that bad? No...I really dont think so. I was happy when I turned 40 cause at 39, I had set a goal to reach by the time I turned 40 and I made it...so I was focused on that versus the number of birthdays. I had a very wise friend tell me that this time in my life is the best because I should have a better idea now of who I am versus in the past. Sometimes I have to remind myself of that, but for the most part it is true.
So one of my bestest friends, Tricia, recently turned 40 and I thought I would make a little something for her. This was the perfect opportunity to use the "40 Sucks" ideas I had seen online. That is my disclainer, this is not my idea and I dont know whose original idea it was...so if it was you...cheers to you!
My first creation was the card. Now, as many of you will note, I dont do the collage style well, pretty much everything you see from me is clean and simple. So this was a little out of my box, but I think the tickets are just adorable!
Lastly, I used a "repuprosed" candle can for the sucker "vase". I put floral foam in the bottom and added some pink grass over it. Then I counted suckers and stuck them in.
Warning: Keep out of the reach of dogs. My birdie dog decided to snatch 2 suckers out of here when I was not looking. It took my husband and I FOREVER to count and re-count to make sure I had 40. The dog ate the sticks and all so there was no evidence and I would not have known had it not been for the loud crunch I heard!
Happy Birthday Tricia!! It will be a GREAT year!

Recycling Bags...

For those of you who know me well...you will know that I currently refuse to recycle. Now...before I get boo'd out of blogland for not being friendly to the earth...I do have to say that recycling is a SUPER thing to do. However, I currently am surrounded daily at work with "recycling" that could be featured on the next episode of "Hoarders: Buried Alive". It is not recycling when you put into to unsorted piles and leave it for someone else to take care of... someday. I would be happy to sort pop cans and water bottles at my house...if we had extra room for a container for each item and IF I were guaranteed that those containers would NEVER overflow. Those things are currently impossible at my house so for now...we will all have to be happy with this one little project being my attempt to recycle something. I found these little bags when I was cleaning out my stamp room. I had previously stamped different colored hearts and had ribbon on the front of them...it looked pewckie! So I pulled the old stuff off and decorated with the balloons (of course). I think they are so much more fun like this. Fun colors! And the snow white ink from Paper Trey has got to be the BEST on the market...great stuff!

Balloons Anyone?

You would think that this is the only stamp set I own these days, lol. I have oodles more but this seems to be the one I keep grabbing...for EVERTHING. I have one more card to share as well with these balloons. And I think I am going to play along on the PTI blog hop this month....and I am going to use the balloon...I think, hehe. They are just so refreshing and fun! Here I was trying out my new impression plate and background set. Off to do some work....

More Balloons...

When I first purchased this stamp set, I made one card and was then stumped. I could not figure out what more to do with it. As time has gone on...I get more and more ideas and continue to LOVE this set of balloons. Didn't make it to the Hoff N Puff in Topeka this weekend to see the hot air balloons. Maybe next time. It is a BEAUTIFUL Kansas day...I can only imagine that the balloons look marvelous in the sky!

Funny: Anyone else see the little hicup on this card? That is what happens when your teenager is trying to talk you into something while you are creating. Good news was I was listening to her and made the right decision...bad news was it was noticeable on this card, lol.

Getting Ready For The Sale...

This post will be short as most of the time it takes me FOREVER to figure out the multiple picture thing and how to get them all lined up. I worked all day yesterday on cards to sell at my garage sale. Most of the cards that I have posted in the last 2 months will be sold as well as many others. I love these Simply Square cards, they are already embossed and have cute coordinating envelopes. They had been hiding inthe bottom of a box for a bit ;).

Trying Something New...

I have decided that it is time to try something new! So this fall I am going to take a beginning pottery class...and in the winter, I am going to take a beginning quilting class. I am pretty excited about both of these things! Both are things that I was going to wait to do until Sam graduates from high school. The pottery class is on Friday nights but they just happen to have a session that is squeezed in after high school football season and before basketball starts. Quilting, well I checked and lucky me...the classes don't fall on any of the days basketball is happening, so if girl decides to play BB we are all good! Why put off for tomorrow what we can learn today.

This card is a little different. Not only is the picture really crooked but the background is made from kites :)

Looking Back a Few Weeks...

Just thought I would share this little Father's Day card that I made for my pops. This has to be one of the worst card photos I have ever taken BUT...I really like the card. I don't do "manly" cards very often--which means I tend not to work with these darker colors too often either. Struggle, struggle, struggle...then finally whaaaalaaa.

Sending Smiles...

This balloon set so reminds me of when I was a young child staying at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Each year there were 2 or 3 days when the hot air balloons would have a gathering at the high school that was just a few blocks from their house. I do believe that this occured around the first part of June each year...maybe it had something to do with the River Fest as well. Anyway, because the wind comes out of the south in Spring and Summer the balloons almost always went right over the house. I still remember the sound they make....I can make that sound I just can't put it into letters,LOL. It was a real treat to get to go down to the school and watch the balloons air up and take off. Even at that early part of my life I was fascinated by all the color and designs on the balloons. There is a balloon launch in Topeka in September, I hope to talk my husband into going. Oh, I would LOVE to have some pictures of that!

Holiday Weekend and Challenge Card....

Happy Memorial Day Weekend to All! I have a list of things I want to accomplish this weekend and have managed to get a few checked right off my list...challenge card, check...steam clean carpets, check...tan, check...sunburn, check (Bad combo)....watch a couple of ball games, check...and there is much more to be done. I am a little sleepy so I think the list is going to have to be complete for the day.
This little card is for the sketch challenge over on Clean and Simple Stamping as always, a FUN plus to visit. It is also one of my very first cards using my new Paper Trey Ink stamps...I am in LOVE with the stamps and all of the goodies they make to go with their sets. You will see more of them for sure!
